Environmental Manager plans, directs, and performs duties necessary

$130,000Responsibilities
- Provide support and assistance regarding the implementation of
company environmental policies and compliance programs
- Provide staff support in developing, implementing, and
maintaining environmental plans and procedures for assuring
compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
by company facilities and operations
- Coordinate and provide employee environmental training
- Maintain records, files and prepares reports as needed for
compliance with environmental requirements
- Prepare and maintain plans and procedures for environmental
programs, e.g., Air Regulation (Title V, NESHAP, and CEMS)
Operation & Monitoring Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention
Plan, Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure Plan, Hazard
Communication, California Environmental Reporting System
(CERS/CUPA) and Hazardous Waste Program
- Develop and implement regulatory compliance programs in
coordination with corporate, division, and plant management
- Maintain environmental database of inspections, permits, plans,
fees, and other environmental requirements
- Maintain and review data collected in Continuous Emissions
Monitoring System (CEMS)
- Inspect and monitor in-plant equipment, work sites, plant
procedures, and environmental conditions to assure compliance by
employees, contractors, and visitors
- Respond to and assist in the event of operational incidents
relating to regulatory compliance and develops information for
required reports to governmental agencies
- As directed, investigate compliance-related incidents regarding
operational procedures, causation information, and potential
practices for enhancing compliance
- Communicates accurately and knowledgeably with various
governmental agencies regarding regulatory programs, permits, and
compliance matters
- Prepares and submits applications, and updates environmental
permits and agency authorizations for all operations, e.g., air
pollution control permits, storm water discharges authorizations,
mining and use permits, reclamation plans, Corps 404 permits, US
Fish and Wildlife permits, NOAA Fisheries permits, and State Fish
and Wildlife Department permits, etc.
- Inspect environmental conditions at CalPortland leased
properties
- Submit annual reports to federal, state, and county regulatory
agencies as required (annual APCD reports, annual hazardous
materials and hazardous waste reports, etc.)
- Attend various Planning Commission and Board of Supervisor or
other Agency meetings as necessary regarding new or existing
permits, new applications and/or major issues affecting our
industry
- Prepare requisitions for outside services, direct vendors and
consultants and provides contact administration on projects as
assigned
- Work with trade and professional associations to increase
understanding of an influence over environmental regulatory
requirementsEducationBachelors degree in engineering, geology, or
related fieldRequirements/Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to
teach or train effectively
- Working knowledge of applicable environmental regulations
- Must be physically able to access all plant areas and equipment
to accomplish job function
- Experience in a heavy industrial or mining settingConditions of
EmploymentSuccessful candidate must submit to post-offer
pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and
background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going
